How much bait will I need?
In good fishing conditions, 10-20kg of boilies per angler and the same in carpet feed and pellet. Alternatively, increase the amount of pellet and reduce boilies accordingly.
What bait do you recommend?
We only allow our own boilies. These are of the highest quality and contain no artificial chemicals, colours or preservatives. They are rolled locally by Priory Lakes who have one of the finest carp stocks in France. We typically stock three types (Coconut, Salmon/Garlic and Crab X). Anglers can bring their own hookbaits, pop-ups, plastic baits etc. Our carp also respond well to pellets. In winter we feed the carp with a specially developed carpet feed. This is available for purchase and is a great attractor.
If you supply bait on site, will I be able to get more bait during my stay if I need it?
Yes, we will email you a bait order form shortly after your booking. We will have additional stock which is available should you require more. If we are not on site at the time our bailiff will call in during the week and will provide any additional bait.
Is my UK carp set-up suitable for use at your lake?
Yes, we would recommend 3-3.25lb test curve rods.
What hook size do you recommend?
We recommend size 4 or 6 when boilie fishing. They must be barbless.
What breaking strain of main line do you recommend?
15-20lb with a minimum allowed of 15lb (no braided main line).
What is the surface of the swims - can I use bank sticks?
We have grassy stone covered swims so pods are best.
Are any special tactics required?
All tactics work at times although overall bottom/balanced baits work best. We have some more detailed fishing notes that are e-mailed with the bait order form.
Do you recommend use of a bait boat?
This is a personal choice. We have anglers who use them and catch well using bait boats and others who prefer to cast.
Can I drive all the way around the lake in order to unload?
Unfortunately not, but we provide a carp barrow to transport your gear.
Is the lake secure? Can we leave our gear on the bankside if we go out?
Yes, the entire lake is fenced with Otterstop Tornado Wire. You will be provided with the code for the padlocks.
Can we drink the tap water?
Yes
Do you have UK plug points?
All plugs are French, but we supply a number of adaptors.
