General Fishery Rules

Arrival time: not before 2pm.

Departure time: by 10am (lake to be vacated by 9am).

Keep fishery gates closed at all times.

Respect equipment provided.

No swimming.

The rowing boat is to be used for the purposes of placing rigs, retrieving snagged rigs and baiting only. Only to be used by swimmers. A life jacket must be worn.

No open fires.
-
No loud music or shouting.
-
No excessive drinking or rowdy behaviour.

No litter, please use dustbins provided.
-
If you smoke, please use ash trays provided.
-
Please recycle glass, cans and plastics using the containers provided.

Please do not remove overhanging branches from trees and do not cut back bank side vegetation.

Respect the wildlife.

Dogs are allowed by prior arrangement (the entire property is securely fenced).
Fishing Rules

Single barbless hooks only, up to size 4 maximum.

Maximum of three rods per angler.
-
Maximum of three anglers (four by prior arrangement with nine rod limit)

For parties of two or more anglers, an additional shared dedicated catfish rod is permitted (a catfish rod and reel is available for hire).

Anglers under the age of sixteen to be supervised at all times.

Rods are not to be unattended at any time.

Minimum of 15lb main line.

No braided main line.
-
No lead core.
-
No leaders of any kind.

A minimum of 60cm of rig tubing must be used.
-
No split shot behind rigs to pin down line, putty is permitted.
-
No fixed leads or leads over 3oz.
-
Only bait (excluding hook baits) supplied by Bears Lake are allowed.

No nuts of any kind to be used.
-
Bait boats are allowed.
-
Use landing net, unhooking mats and weigh slings provided (these must not be brought onto the fishery).

Wherever possible, fish over 30lbs are to be weighed, photographed etc. whilst still in the water.

When weighing, make sure all fins are flat against body before lifting fish.
-
No watches to be worn when handling fish.

Use the carp care kits provided.
